5 Zeichen, dass du aggressiver fährst als du denkst 5 signs you drive more aggressively than you think

Most drivers misjudge their own driving style. Here are five clues almost everyone overlooks.

🚦

Was du dagegen tun kannst

1. Your passengers reach for the grab handle

The most honest indicator of your driving style sits next to you. If your passenger regularly grabs the handle above the door or squints through corners, you probably drive more aggressively than you realise. We get used to our own style and eventually stop noticing what makes others uncomfortable.

2. You brake late and hard, often

Pay attention to how frequently you slam the brakes. Anticipatory drivers brake gently and early. If you constantly need to brake hard just before a traffic light or the car ahead, you are either driving too fast or following too closely. Both point to a more aggressive style.

3. Yellow lights are an invitation to you

If you regularly accelerate on yellow instead of braking, that says a lot about your risk tolerance behind the wheel. A light that just turned yellow is not a start signal. Drivers who consistently speed up here tend to push it at other tight spots too.

4. You overtake even though it barely helps

In city traffic, overtaking rarely gains you more than two car lengths before the next red light. Yet many drivers constantly switch lanes, accelerate briefly and then brake again. It costs fuel, raises the accident risk and saves no time in the end.

5. Your fuel consumption is above average

An aggressive driving style shows up directly in fuel consumption. Hard acceleration and late braking use noticeably more fuel than a steady driving style. If your consumption is clearly above the manufacturer's rating and you cannot find a technical cause, your driving style might be the reason.

What you can do about it

The first step is to actually know your own driving style. DriveHalpper records your trips and shows you on the map where you drove calmly, moderately or aggressively. You see in black and white which sections have room for improvement, without anyone lecturing you.
